3-16-20: Please see Google Classroom later this evening for your class assignment. Basically, It will consist of finishing section 3 of Chapter 12 followed by a quiz.

3-11-20: Completed section 2 today in class. Tomorrow (Thursday) 8AB will both be taking the QUIZZES on section 1&2 and move onto section 3 Monday.
3-9-20: Completed section 3&4 section essay response.
3-2-20:Today we finished chapter 10, we will be moving on to Chapter 12 "The Jacksonian Age" starting Tuesday 3-3-20.
2-20-20: We have been working on Chapter 10 since 2-13-20. Currently, we have completed section 1&2 and we will be taking section 1&2 quizzes tomorrow, Friday 2-21-20.
2-18-20: The students will be getting their Ch 9 Test back, please take a look at them and SIGN THEM so they can receive an extra credit point. Please return them to school to be collected Wednesday 2-19.
2-10-20: Ch 9 Test will be Wednesday 2-12-20 due to 8A being a day behind 8B on account of schedule changes last week (testing).
2-4-20: We should be able to take the Chapter 9 Test Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.
2-3-20: We will continue working on Chapter 9 as we also do our testing Tuesday -Thursday. I will be working with another teacher to regain some lost class time. PLEASE continue to read the chapter.

12-19-19: Hello 8A and 8B parents, I wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS! This is just a quick update; the 8AB social Studies classes have completed the Current UNIT: The Critical Period, 1783 to 1800. We have completed most of our assessments for this unit. Part I => completed
Part II- The Federal Government => completed
The Expressed, Reserved, Concurrent and Implied Powers of the new government => completed
The Compromises made at the Convention => completed.
The Terms within the Three Branches => completed
***Part III - Ratification of the New US Constitution to be assessed when we return to school.
- The Success of the New government under George Washington to be assessed when we return to school.
The students assessment will consist of two parts, First will be to write a paragraph explaining the ratification process and how it played out. The Second part will be to explain some of the precedent set by President Washington and what he did to help show this new government would in fact be a success. We will review each assessment before we take the assessment. If they payed attention and took notes as suggested, they should do well. If they feel the need to review they can find information on page 278-282 in their text.

12-3-19: Articles of Confederation assessment in class this Friday (12-6)
You will be asked to identify the Strengths and Weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation on a "T_Chart" and Explain why our Founding Fathers decided to create a new constitution.

12-2-19: HOMEWORK Due 12-3-19 = Based on class discussion, answer the following question: After 1776, The States needed to rewrite their State Constitutions. WHY? Just a simple paragraph on loose leaf paper.
NEW UNIT The Critical Period 1783 to 1800 started 11-25-19. The students will be assessed as we move through the Unit to avoid one long test.
First assessment will address the Articles of Confederation.Tentative date => 12-3-19.

1-15-20: Our current unit covering Political/Economic terms is almost complete. We have been working on this unit since we returned from the Christmas break. Lets plan to take our test this coming Tuesday the 21st. PARENTS: Please have your student show you their study packet and composition books. The study packet should have all eleven of the Political/Economic terms completed, including a definition, advantages and disadvantages. We completed this study guide during class for two complete school days. For a few students who didn't complete it, each homeroom had a packet that they could use to complete the assignment in their homerooms. Their Composition books should have notes including charts and diagrams that were on the board and were were our focus of discussion as we worked at mastering the information.
12-22-19: PARENTS --- please ask your son/daughter if they have turned in their projects. There are 7 students from 7A and 5 students from 7B that have not turned in their projects as of Sunday evening!
12-19-19: Hello 7AB parents, I wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS! Today in class, your child turned in their Google Slide presentation covering three countries from South America, they have been working on since last Thursday (12-12). When we return to school, each student will be giving a brief presentation on their slide show focusing on 1 or 2 interesting things they learned about each of their three countries. I suggested they share their slide show with you and talk about what they learned.
PLEASE encourage your son or daughter to share their project with you and what they found interesting, strange, sad or different that they will be sharing with their classmates.
12-10-19: Please note due to your LA test on 12-10, 7AB Social Studies Ch 11 Test will be Wednesday 12-11 ( this was discussed last Friday in class). If you missed class Monday, please make sure you combine your notes based on the study guide to one page of paper so you can use it to help you be successful on the TEST!!! Also---go over the exercise on page 233, something similar will be on the test.
12-2-19: Chapter 11 review packet handed out to 7A, 7B received their packets last Tuesday before Thanksgiving Break. Our Test for Chapter 11 is scheduled for Tuesday, (12-10).
Section 1 to be covered 12-2 and 12-3.

11-18-19: Finish Ch 10 section 1 worksheet assigned in class as homework to be discussed in class Tuesday.
I talked to the students today about the Chapter 10 Test and in order to benefit the students who could use the points, we need to move the Test to this Friday the 22nd. IF the students cooperate in class and do the study guides for homework, we will be able to have the Test and benefit many students who could use the points!
11-15-19: As discussed in class (7A&B), we will begin chapter 10 Monday. We will also be completing Map skill exercises from ch 9 as we cover Ch 10. All students are to do the map exercise found on page 188-189, please do all four questions to be turned in Monday at the beginning of class.The Test for Ch 10 will be Monday, 11-25
11-12 through 14: working on Jr Scholastic Map Skills in class. No homework.
11-11-19: Group presentations for last three presentations from ch 8 in 7B. CH 7 Midwest presentation and all 3 presentations from ch 8 for 7A.
11-7-19: Group Project Chapters 7 & 8. All students are currently working in groups to produce a Google Slide presentation covering the sections of chapters 7 & 8 to be presented starting Monday (11-11). All students should have project instructions and group assigned duties written into their Social Studies Composition Books.
10-29-19: Please write down the TWO "Main Ideas" and below that, the Vocabulary terms with their definitions this is to be turned in at the beginning of class Wednesday October 30.
10-25: Homework pg 119&120 Map questions.
